Welcome to the second part of our week together. It seems like forever since I have spent this much time together with my girls, but after spending Wednesday taking it easy and spending most of the day around the house (we did venture out for groceries) we were ready for an outing on Thursday. I'm not one to just hang out at home. With both of my maternity leaves there were very few days where we didn't go somewhere--the library, the early years centre, the park or a even a quick errand. I think it keeps me sane! That being said I can't wait for warm weather. I don't think I even remember what
So I spent all last week with my lovely little gals. Our daycare provider was still in Florida, and I took last week off work to hang out with our two little ladies. I wanted to do some special things with them--things I have wanted to do for a while... So we had a busy week--Monday we went to the drop in playgroup we frequented when I was on mat leave. This is held at the Royal Distributing Athletic Performance Centre in Marden. Basically, it's an indoor soccer field that they open up to toddlers and preschoolers to run around and burn off some energy. It is perfect for cold winter days when
Do you ever struggle with how to show your appreciation in a casual, but thoughtful way? You want to say thank you, but you know the recipient doesn't expect more than a simple thank you. I've struggled with this before...and just this weekend. Oh, what to do? What to do? Our daycare provider just started off a two week vacation and family is helping us out with childcare. My brother was the first to spend a day with my little ladies! My brother fancies himself a bit of a "kid whisperer." HIS words not mine! Frequent recipients of his "knowledge" are my two girls and his girlfriend's two children.
Well I am guilty of not quite getting one of our Valentine's projects, finished up and on the blog before Valentine's weekend was over. Please tell me I am not alone in my "mom fail!" After debating it, I decided to go ahead and post it because, hey--life happens right and this will likely not be the last time we don't get something finished up! Our family had great visions of spending time outside on the Valentine's/Family Day weekend. The -33 temperature put a bit of a hitch in our plans. With the extreme cold warning, there was no sledding, snowman building or trail walks for our family.
My husband and I tend to be pretty practical when it comes to Valentine’s Day. For several years now, we have opted to not go out to a crowded restaurant instead ordering in or cooking together. The thought of a busy restaurant and two small children has us cooking a special dinner at home this year. My husband is in charge of the main meal. I have hinted lobster would be nice (he cooks a great lobster) and I’m responsible for dessert—I was thinking a rich chocolate pudding made from scratch…Seems Tim may have other thoughts—“chocolate fondue. I think Bug would like chocolate fondue.”
So my daughter is obsessed by the Disney movie FROZEN. I don’t even know how it happened… One unplanned 5pm nap, followed by our first family movie night and she was hooked. All of a sudden she was rhyming off the characters names and reciting the story line. That was back in May, before the stores were overrun with frozen paraphernalia! We don’t fully discourage it I will admit. For her birthday I did make her a Barbie cake, (you know—skirt is the cake with a doll sticking out) featuring none other than Anna. My Bug likes to have braids in her hair “like Anna” and my husband
The bag of cotton balls has been a mystery to Bug since she spied it in my grocery bag the other day. She has tossed it in the air, pretty sure she has stepped on it, and squished that bag more times than I can count. Snowmen have been the talk of our household this week, we made a family of them on the weekend! We settled on pinecone eyes, and searched the areas where snow had been cleared for small stones for buttons. Grandpa rushed into the house to gather some carrots for noses. Mom and Dad are out of practice...we forgot all about a hat and scarf until a family friend asked Bug what colour
